Karachi Astronomers’ Society (KAS) is a dedicated group of astronomers, almost all of them amateurs, in Karachi. KAS is the short name given to this society by the founders. Now KAS has its active members all around Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Sargoda, Hyderabad and other cities.

The society is made up of individuals who are willing to work for the achievement of KAS’s goals and objectives from anywhere in the world.

KAS is the first national-level Astronomy club and largest Astronomy club of Pakistan in terms of members, affiliations, and events, having arranged many types of events promoting Astronomy as a hobby and science in Karachi and Pakistan. Since 2008, KAS has been promoting the use of Binoculars and telescopes through various events, workshops and Rutjugas and made enthusiasts aware of usage, availability and technicalities.

SOLAR ASTRONOMY PROJECT

A lot of activities are happening on the horizon of Solar Astronomy in Pakistan for last few years and this is good news that solar astronomy is thriving in Pakistan at the same rate and on the same scale as the night time astronomy.

RUTJUGA

Since 2009, KAS has been doing Dark sky Astronomy trips outside of Karachi in different places in Sindh and Balochistan. These events are special events that are arranged and organized solely by the Karachi Astronomers Society (KAS) event management team.

KAStrodome

The Kastrodome is an urban space observatory project at Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi for Karachi Astronomers Society. The KAStrodome is a 12 feet diameter observatory and houses a 12.5″ Newtonian on a Losmandy GM-100 mount.
