On Nov 7, 2013 evening we had the preliminary inauguration ceremony of an Urban Observatory at KaAStrodome, Karachi. The event was also covered by Dunya News Paper and Geo Television Network. Dunya will publish it in their weekly Sunday magazine and Geo will soon telecast the event in their Science and Technology news section.
KaAStrodome (Astrodome belongs to KaAS) is the main hub of all activities of Karachi Astronomers Society (KaAS). Dr. Akbar Hussain who is a physician by profession, one of the top amateur astronomers of Pakistan, a senior core KaAsian and also an amateur telescope maker (ATM) is the master mind of this observatory project. He came from Australia with the design of this dome and achieved its current stage in almost a month. This observatory is now under construction (almost 80% completed) but as Dr. Akbar has to leave back to Australia, this preliminary launch ceremony was organized.
